Birmingham is on a hot streak. Last week saw March Madness celebrations overlapping with St. Patrick’s Day marches. Restaurants and bars around the city were packed out, but still providing absolutely incredible experiences over delicious food and beverage. The winning streak continues in the Magic City this week, as musicians once again steal the spotlight for what is bound to be an eventful next few days. Here are some of the shows we are most looking forward to.
Teenage Halloween, Me and My Knife, Boss Rush, & Sugarplums at The Firehouse (Wednesday)
A few of Birmingham’s finest bands will be joining Teenage Halloween from New Jersey for a night of rowdy and fun tunes at the Firehouse Community Center. Me and My Knife, Boss Rush, and Sugarplums are joining forces for a spectacular Wednesday night show that highlights the Birmingham music scene along with the touring act.
Vibe Tribe Producer Showcase at The Upstairs at Avondale (Wednesday)
Luke Crowder, alongside bhamstands and You Should Be Listening, has been building something special in Birmingham. The Vibe Tribe Producer Showcase has been highlighting the beauty and talent that is found in the Magic City creative scene - and is always a good time. This month’s edition is on Wednesday evening at The Upstairs at Avondale and features Troy Davis, Saphh Beats, Akil Pratt, and ITP along with art, fashion, and jewelry from Sheep Black Designs, Keana Brewster, Rose the Artist, CJ’s Jewelry, and Troy Davis.
Punk Rock Art Show #29 - Ladies Night at True Story (Saturday)
The Birmingham Punk Rock Art Show by Brian Burx and Hannah Ali Burks at True Story Brewing has been putting on unique events that can’t be found anywhere else in the Magic City. The March edition is taking place this Saturday night and is even more special as it features an all-women lineup as Triangle Fire (Athens), Lipstick Stains (Memphis), Over Seasons (Birmingham), Occult Fracture (Charlotte), and FUTUREHATE (Mobile).
Birmingham Mountain Radio Presents Drive-By Truckers at Iron City (Sunday)
Sunday is going to be an incredible night of music in Birmingham. Iron & Wine will be playing The Lyric. The Parachute Show makes a triumphant return. And the Drive-By Truckers will be playing a beautiful show at Iron City. This is a defining voice in Southern music for many in the state, and will be a fun show to attend.
Parachute Show: TWEN, Ferocious Bubbles, Sick F*cks at Saturn (Sunday)
We hope you haven’t gotten tired of us talking about the free Saturn Parachute Show series because the events will keep making our lists if they keep putting out incredible opportunities to see some of the most entertaining bands around. This Sunday’s show features Birmingham bands Sick F*cks and Ferocious Bubbles alongside the touring TWEN. It’s going to be a fun one.
