Fire and comedy and opera, oh my! The Magic City has been making our weekly event lists an absolute pleasure to write about. This week of February continues the trend with all sorts of fun local happenings taking place alongside some primetime national acts coming through town. Here are a few of the events we are most looking forward to.

Avondale Firejam Feb 2023

The weather is starting to drop again as we enter the twelfth stage of Alabama winter, but Luminarts Entertainment and their legion of fire spinners are backing the heat back to Avondale Brewing on Wednesday, February 15th. This month’s edition will feature music by Milk Dub and Biolux, who will be playing a V-Day/Anti V-Day set.

Chris & Chris Comedy Connection at Saturn (Thursday)

The Birmingham comedy scene has been on fire lately! Comedians Chris Davis and Chris Ivey have already played a huge role in this development, but are taking things to the next level with the first edition of their Chris & Chris Comedy Connection series at Saturn this Thursday! This free event features four comedians (Caleb Garrett, Lori Moore, Peter Davenport, and Narado) who must go on stage with no material except suggestions from the audience when they run out of ideas. Sounds like a great time.

Opera Shots at Cahaba Brewing (Thursday)

Not every city gets opera pop-ups throughout town, but the Magic City is blessed with these random occurrences thanks to Opera Birmingham. The next opera in the wild sighting will be at Cahaba Brewing this Thursday from 6 to 7pm, with a percentage of beer sales going toward the opera!

Silversun Pickups at Iron City (Friday)

We’ve been waiting. We’ve been waiting for this moment all our lives. And it is quite right! That’s the feeling we are experiencing in anticipation of the Silversun Pickups and Paris Jackson concert at Iron City this Friday night. This is going to be a very fun show.

Legendz of the Streetz Tour at The BJCC (Saturday)

The word “legend” gets thrown around a lot nowadays - oftentimes without much merit. Rest assured though, the superstars in the building for the Legendz of the Streetz Tour at The BJCC’s Legacy Arena this Saturday are more than worthy of the title. There’s a reason this was one of our most anticipated February shows. Gucci Mane, Jeezy, Jadakiss, Cam’ron, and Trina are just a few of the exciting names on the bill.

Imagine the fun of a Mardi Gras parade, now make it more chicken-y! Throw in a St. Paul and the Broken Bones musician while you're at it, and have it end at one of the most fun establishments in town. Now you know why the Mardi Gras Chicken Parade is one of our most anticipated annual events - it brings unique joy to the Magic City. Join the fun this Saturday with an afterparty at Mom’s Basement.
