We talk a lot about how great the concerts in Birmingham have been of late, and it’s important to remember that we are just as blessed to have a thriving music scene. The musicians in this city are talented, motivated, and rising together. It’s been super encouraging to watch over the years and has made for some really genuine spaces. Electronic musicians, singer-songwriters, punk rockers, R&B artists, and all types of creatives can find an uplifting community to be around. That’s on full display with this week’s featured events. Support some local music this week and/or go see Stevie Nicks!
Stevie Nicks at the Legacy Arena (Wednesday)
Birmingham has been bringing in A LOT of big shows, but few names can compare with the iconic Stevie Nicks of Fleetwood Mac fame. This Wednesday night concert at The BJCC’s Legacy Arena helps start off a fantastic concert season in Birmingham and easily made our list of the most exciting shows to look forward to in April.
SubDocta: Bass Science Tour w/ Black Carl! at Zydeco (Wednesday)
Black Carl! is one of Birmingham music’s biggest ambassadors of late. The rising EDM star has been gathering praise through his individual work and collaborations like Integrate with fellow Magic City musician VCTRE. Black Carl! will be bringing the party home on Wednesday night at Zydeco with the great SubDocta.
Seasick Sessions: La Memoria (Thursday)
What would the Magic City be without Seasick Records? A good bit more boring to say the least! The record store not only houses great music selections and the fun Birmingham Classic Cuts crew, but is constantly hosting events and benefit drives that uplift the community. This continues with the Seasick Sessions. This edition highlights La Memoria, who has a special 7” vinyl release coming out. Suaze will be DJing beforehand and W. Vicente food truck, Fuego Chamoy candy, and La Nostalgia vintage will all be on-site for this fun Thursday event.
Will Stewart and Kaydee Mulvehill at The Upstairs at Avondale (Thursday)
Two of our absolute favorites are joining forces in what is sure to be a top night of music in the Magic City or anywhere else. Kaydee Mulvehill and Will Stewart will both be sharing their beautiful songs at The Upstairs at Avondale on Thursday evening. This is a top representation of how wonderful the Birmingham music scene is, so make sure to support.
Colors: Live & Local Experience at Iron City Grill (Friday)
Birmingham went into a collective shock when Iron City announced they were closing the restaurant portion of their venue, but we were promised that we would get more concert experiences like the greatness we’ve been seeing in the main venue and grill-side over the last few months. The Colors: Live & Local Experience on Friday evening is one of the first looks at how great this double booking can be. Birmingham favorites Richard Daniel, Kennie Blk, HVN, and TÆ highlight an exciting night at the grill while R&B Only entertains on the venue side.
The Cancellations, ZYK, and The Sick F@cks at The Nick (Saturday)
The Birmingham music scene is in a prime era of rocking and rolling. The Sick F*cks are one of many testaments to this statement. The band will be playing at the historically rowdy The Nick venue alongside The Cancellations and ZYK on Saturday night. This is a highly recommended show.
