On hot Alabama summer days that seem to have no end, there are few things that can cool you down quite like a margarita. Adding the perennial favorite flavor of watermelon makes the beverage even more refreshing. A simple drink that's a twist on the classic, this margarita recipe will remind you of those childhood days spent eating watermelon under the largest tree you could find in the park and maybe cool you down a few degrees.
Ingredients:
- 4 cubes chopped watermelon
- 2 oz. lime juice
- 2 oz. silver tequila
- 1 oz. Patrón Citrónge
- 2 oz. simple syrup
- 4 watermelon slices, for garnish
Add ice to your shaker. In a separate cup, take a fresh watermelon (preferably chilled in the fridge) and chop up four 1-in. cubes. Muddle the fruit with the back of a spoon. Strain the resulting watermelon juice into the shaker. If you like some texture in your margarita, leave in the bits of watermelon. Just don’t forget to remove those pesky seeds!
Add tequila, lime juice, Patrón Citrónge, and simple syrup. Shake it up and serve over ice.
If the margarita isn’t as tangy as you like, add a squeeze of fresh lime. Add a salt or sugar rim to your glass and garnish with a small slice of watermelon for a delightful presentation.
