Haven hosted over 500 of the region’s most passionate advocates attending The Women’s Fund of Greater Birmingham’s 8th annual Smart Party to celebrate smart women and smart giving and build equitable opportunities for women. VIP guests enjoyed a complimentary welcome cocktail courtesy of Dread River Distilling Company, complimentary wine courtesy of International Wine and Craft Beer, beer courtesy of Ghost Train Brewing Co., heavy hors d'oeuvres, and a sway bag with gifts from local buisnesses. Eunice Elliott was the emcee for the evening and DJ Chocolate spun everyone’s favorite old school hits and women’s empowerment anthems. Smart Party tickets and donations supported public policy advocacy to remove barriers and create long-lasting systemic change, critical research to create a sustainable and inclusive workforce in Alabama, and high-impact interventions proven to accelerate women’s economic opportunity. It also celebrated the Smart Honorees, a prestigious group of ten women leading in their field and creating change in their communities. In addition to a new location, this year’s Smart Party included a new VIP Experience featuring an intimate conversation with Shipt CEO Kelly Caruso. In one of her first public appearances in Birmingham, Kelly shared insights about her experience as the first woman leader of an Alabama-based tech company, how she’s creating an inclusive culture at Shipt, and why it’s essential for the business community to continue investing in women. Smart Party gave guests the opportunity to put their philanthropy into action and reach beyond the four walls of the event space. In the weeks before the party, ticketholders were encouraged to share their personalized fundraising page with their networks and compete for the coveted spot of Top Fundraiser or Most Social. The Top Fundraiser, Runner-Up Fundraiser, and Most Social won exciting prizes.
