Hosted by Brandon McBay and Daniel New, The Royal ALZ Gala began as an extension of a tradition close to their hearts. They hosted an annual Christmas party for many years, bringing together friends and family. In 2022, they decided to channel the time, effort, and resources from their gathering into a cause that truly matters: the fight against Alzheimer’s disease. This decision was deeply personal—they had recently lost grandparents to Alzheimer’s and Dementia and saw close friends affected by this devastating disease and going through extremely hard times as well.
Their commitment to this cause led them both to join the Board of Directors for the Alzheimer’s Association Alabama Chapter, with Brandon now serving as Board President. Their first gala in 2022, held at their home, welcomed about 100 guests and raised over $15,000. The following year, they moved the event to a larger venue, drawing approximately 130 attendees and raising over $50,000.
Their hope is that, each year, they grow this event and involve more people in the fight against Alzheimer’s through advocacy and sponsorships as they enter into an era of treatment. They believe that by coming together, we can make a meaningful impact in the fight against this disease and move closer to a world without Alzheimer’s.
