After a crazy week of rain, it looks like this weekend will be perfect for all types of events around Birmingham.  Although your focus may be (read: should be!) on Mom this weekend, there are plenty of options to fill everyone’s social calendar between markets, sporting events, and annual traditions.  Read on to find out what’s happening in the Magic City this weekend.

Regions Tradition Golf Tournament

Primary beneficiary: Children’s of Alabama

Greystone Golf and Country Club

May 5-9

Event details here

After having to cancel in 2020, the Regions Tradition Golf Tournament is back and better than ever!  The tournament has become a staple in annual Birmingham sporting events and has helped raise $19 million (and counting) over the last 29 years for local charities - with Children’s of Alabama being the primary beneficiary.

Come out and watch some great golf with the likes of Vijay Singh, Fred Funk, Retief Goosen, and Ernie Els. Enjoy libations at the White Claw Watering Hole, The Tito’s Terrace, The Miller Lite Deck, or the Chateau Souverain Wine Lounge.  And Saturday stay to hear The Marshall Tucker Band live concert.  The Final Championship Round will be held Sunday afternoon with an awards ceremony on the 18th green.

Birmingham Barons vs. Biloxi Shuckers

Regions Field

May 5-9

Fireworks: Friday & Saturday; Family Day: Sunday

Tickets

Let’s hear it for the home team!  After sweeping their double-header against the Shuckers on Wednesday, the Barons continue their six-game series against the Biloxi team this weekend. This week represents Birmingham’s first time since 2015 in which its home opener has doubled as the season opener.  Make it a family affair and bring the kids for fireworks both Friday and Saturday nights while the Sunday game marks Family Day at Regions Field.

Mother’s Day Market

Cahaba Brewing Company

Saturday, May 8

12 p.m. - 5 p.m.

Cahaba Brewing Company is hosting its first annual Mother's Day Market, and they’ve teamed up with 50 local artisans, vendors, makers, and creators to celebrate the holiday. In addition to a vast array of shopping and gift opportunities, there will be food, cocktails, and excellent craft beer on tap, too.

Food trucks at the event include Simon’s, Corazon, Kayjuns, Crawdaddy’s, and Maggie’s Farm, and live music from JD & The Man Dirty Mirrors will provide the background groove.

The MarketPlace at Lee Branch - Celebrate Mothers

Saturday, May 8

8 a.m. - 12 p.m.

Venture out to the MarketPlace at Lee Branch on Saturday for Opening Day _ Celebrate Mothers, where you and Mom can pick out delicious ingredients you’ll need to make her your own Mother’s Day brunch, lunch, or dinner! You two can cook the meal together on Sunday as a fun bonding experience, or let Mom prop her feet up and relax while you do the heavy lifting.

While you’re at Celebrate Mothers, drop by the Kids Tent and surprise Mom with a free flower. After that, try a strawberry tasting and enjoy music from Brendan Young.
