Coming up at the Stephan Smith Art Gallery: in honor of Possum Doss’ latest children’s book, “Animals Alphabet Soup,” will be an exhibition with the same title. The event is Friday April 2nd from 5-8 p.m., is free to the public, and will display artwork from Possum’s book. Social distancing as well as mask wearing will be enforced.

The Birmingham Museum of Art (BMA) has many wonderful galleries on display including “Ways of Seeing,” “All Things Bright and Beautiful,” and “An Epic of Earth and Water.” BMA contains diverse cultural pieces from all over the world. This art is from areas including Asian, European, American, African, and Pre-Columbian.

The museum is located downtown at 2000 Reverend Abraham Woods Jr. Blvd., is available to rent for brunches, lunch meetings, elaborate dinners, cocktail events, wedding receptions or any event you dream up! BMA’s next event will be Artbreak: Women Artists of Alabama with The R. Hugh Daniel Director of the Birmingham Museum of Art, Dr. Graham C. Boettcher. Boettcher will discuss Alabama’s female artists from the 20th century, with a Q&A at the end of the evening. This virtual event will be March 16th from 12-1 p.m. and will be free to the public.

Next, on March 25th, BMA will host a virtual film streaming event featuring the film Gather. The event will take place from 6-7:30 p.m. and is free to the public.



The Red Dot Gallery

The Red Dot Gallery  is located at 1001 Stuart Street with it’s main entrance on Rev Abraham Woods Jr Blvd. Local as well as nationally renowned artists exhibit their beautiful work alongside gallery owners Scott Bennett and Dori DeCamillis. The gallery offers a variety of virtual and in-person classes. Classes are being held with limited capacity . Some of the gallery’s online options include painting, drawing, and creativity workshops. In-person offerings include painting classes with Dori DeCamillis. For those not interested in painting or drawing, the gallery also offers pottery classes! Classes are reserved for individuals who are 18+. There are also multiple workshops to choose from for those interested in photography, portrait painting, and creative networking.
