The first week of every month on Instagram and Facebook we ask you to send us your burning questions on a certain topic, and every first Friday K. Kemsley responds with her best advice!
This week’s topic: Relationship Advice
You asked, “I can't tell if he's interested. What do I do?”
Here’s what K. Kemsley has to say:
With Valentine's Day fast approaching, there is one thing at the top of everyone's mind: relationships. Whether you are in one, want one, or can't seem to find one, Valentine's Day causes so many to become acutely aware of their relationship status. But, not to worry, I have the perfect advice for those of you tired of decoding mixed signals.
You asked, "I can't tell if he's interested. What do I do?" And to that I answer, "If you can't tell if he's interested, he isn't."
Now, I know this is a bit of tough love juxtaposed against Valentine's Day's blissful air, but it's nearly always true. I will, however, define one exception to this rule. The dreaded player whose game is playing hard to get. We all have a love-hate relationship with this type of situation. Some of us love the chase, while some of us hate it. Some of us love to be chased, while some of us would rather stop the sprint.
My advice for coaching these players is fairly simple. If you feel you need to be the one coaching, maybe it's time for a paid leave. Time is one of your most valuable assets and the last thing you need to do is waste it on an unpaid position. This year, in lieu of getting winded chasing after these players on their field, take a break. Sit on the sideline. Grab a cocktail. Cheer on the others while you sit blissfully back enjoying the game.
Here are some other options of things to do besides playing the opposition (and, of course, I have options for every budget):
Treat Yourself
Birmingham is full of amazing bakeries (see our recent article). Go and pick up a sweet treat and stop to smell the roses on your way. Continental Bakery in English Village offers an amazing, beautifully decorated assortment of Valentine's goodies.
Galentine's Brunch
Ditch the traditional Valentine's dinner, and opt for a Galentine's brunch. Try a Birmingham favorite like The Essential on Morris Ave or Zaza on 20th!
Sip and Spa
If you're feeling a bit on the bougie side, book yourself a spa day. You earned it. Try out any of Birmingham's spa spots like Escape Day Spa in Homewood or La Bella Skin & Wellness in Liberty Park. Afterward, grab yourself a drink to unwind. Try Golden Age in Mountain Brook Village!
