Furnace Fest 2022 has landed in the Magic City. What was once a DIY darling of the early 2000s has returned in full force in the 2020s. Last year was the first year of the reincarnated Furnace Fest and showed that the love for all things emo, rock, punk, hardcore, metal, and other heavy acts is still going strong in Birmingham - and all around the world. Iconic bands are celebrating the anniversaries of significant albums by playing them in their entirety. The Thursday pre-parties at Trim Tab and Iron City have set a terrific pace for the rest of the weekend, as people from every which way come together to take in the music that they are so passionate about.

The official Furnace festivities take place Friday through Sunday at Sloss Furnaces. There are three stages - Plug Your Holes, Wheelhouse Stage, and the Baked Brothers. There are Single Day Passes, Two-Day Passes, and Weekend Passes available for sale, and kids 10 and under get in free. Each day lasts from noon to 11pm.

Fun Things To Know

In addition to the dozens of bands at Furnace Fest, there are a host of fun events happening around it. There is an official After Party concert at The Nick with Watashi Wa, Hey Thanks!, Painted Light, Bad Lives, Riot for Romance, and elowel on Friday night and along with an official Emo Nite afterparty at Iron City on Saturday night, which features Aaron Gillespie (of Underoath and The Almost) and Matty Mullins (of Memphis May Fire). Many venues around the city are joining in on the fun, with Black Market hosting great nights of concert after parties multiple nights this weekend as well.

There are also plenty of fun material collaborations that came from this year’s Furnace Fest. Seasick Records returned to partner with the festival on some exclusive vinyl including colored prints of the albums ‘Control’ and ‘Alexisonfire’. Furnace Fest also partnered with Solid State Records for more fun vinyl collaborations. The festival also has a beer made with Trim Tab for the weekend - the xBEERx IPA and drinks using xBourbonx whiskey which is made by Three Chord.

Parking is always something to consider, but the festival is making reserving a spot easy with the Clutch App. The nearby Ghost Train Brewing is offering shuttle rides to and from their building as well, which is a convenient offer to take up!
