Biscuit Love has become one of Tennessee’s most distinguished brunch spots and the Nashville-born concept is now expanding out of the state into Alabama with the announcement of a mid-December Grand Opening in Cahaba Heights. The restaurant has built a loyal following since it first opened in 2012 due to its delicious menu and focus on employee well-being.
Biscuit Love is joining a Cahaba Heights area that contains some of the greater Birmingham area’s favorite restaurants and watering holes. Vestavia Hills hospitality specialist Melanie Zarzaur will be joining Biscuit Love founders Sarah and Karl Worley to ensure that the first brick-and-mortar location outside of Tennessee will bring just as much joy to its customers as the branches that came before it.
A big part of what makes Biscuit Love a bright place to visit is the focus the restaurant’s owners put into ensuring that their employees are taken care of on a professional and personal level. This includes innovative concepts in the industry including having a therapist on staff and providing mentorship opportunities to help employees move up the ladder in the world of food and beverage.
Another reason for the wonderful experience is of course the wonderful food and drink options that the creative brunch company brings to the table. Menu items include customer favorites like the East Nasty (buttermilk biscuit topped with fried boneless chicken thigh, aged cheddar, and sausage gravy that was named the best sandwich in the country by Bon Appétit editors in 2015), the B-Roll (biscuit cinnamon roll topped with pecan sticky bun sauce and cream cheese icing), the Princess (buttermilk biscuit topped with Nashville-style spicy boneless “hot chicken” thigh, pickles, mustard, and honey), The Gertie (buttermilk biscuit topped with peanut butter frosting, fresh bananas, and pretzel crunch served on top of chocolate gravy), and the Southern Benny (open-faced buttermilk biscuit topped with shaved country ham, two over-easy eggs, and sausage gravy).
Biscuit-less menu items include Biscuit Love’s famous Bonuts, which are fried biscuit dough tossed in sugar and topped with lemon mascarpone and served with blueberry compote. Other favorites include the Lindstrom (a salad of shaved Brussels sprouts, hazelnuts, parmesan, lemon vinaigrette, and two poached eggs), the Hungry Hash Bowl (fried potatoes topped in sausage gravy, bacon, two over-easy eggs, and garnished with green onions), Chronic Bacon, and stone-ground Cheese Grits.
Things are going to get awfully tasty in December. We can’t wait for Biscuit Love in the Magic City!
