Music, sports, and visual art are the cornerstones of entertainment, and it seems that lately Birmingham always has plenty to offer in all of these categories. This theory holds true as we pass the middle of June and begin to move towards July. All-time great musical acts join local artists and the playoff-bound Birmingham Stallions to make for a thrilling week. Here are a few of the events we are most looking forward to.
SINGULARITY: AI Art Exhibition and Continuing Discussion (Wednesday)
AI has caused a lot of debate over the last couple of years, including in the world of art. Amongst all the chaos however, a group of pioneers have embraced this new technology to create new visual masterpieces. A few such creatives from Alabama will be at Stephen Smith Fine Art this Wednesday evening thanks to a cool collaboration between Miles College and Samford University. Featured artists include King Tall T, Eugene Qahhaar II, and Marcus Fetch.
Vibe Tribe Producer Showcase: June at The Upstairs at Avondale (Wednesday)
The Vibe Tribe is back again. Luke Crowder, who just had more impressive production credits released - this time with Killer Mike, has brought together some of the city’s finest producers for this Wednesday’s event at The Upstairs at Avondale. Featured musicians include Billy Beatmaker, Tenderly, Wesley Huffman, and L8 Boom.
Tori Amos: Ocean To Ocean Tour at the Alabama Theatre (Thursday)
June was sure to be a great month for concerts in Birmingham, with the month featuring one of our most exciting can’t-miss concert lists yet. The legendary Tori Amos is a big reason for the middle month being such a thrilling one, with the musicians show finally taking place this Thursday at the Alabama Theatre.
Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit at Avondale (Friday and Saturday)
Birmingham has somewhat of a musical essence, and Jason Isbell lines up exactly with the sound and style that the Magic City so loves. So much so, in fact, that Isbell and the 400 Unit will be playing two consecutive packed out shows at Avondale Brewing this Friday and Saturday night. This is going to be an experience you don’t want to miss.
Birmingham Stallions USFL South Division Playoff Game at Protective Stadium (Sunday)
The Magic City’s hometown USFL football team has already given us plenty to celebrate after winning the league’s championship trophy last season. The Stallions are now one of four teams left fighting for the title this year - and will be hosting the South Division playoff game against the New Orleans Breakers this Sunday. Winner goes on to play for the championship next week.
