We have officially passed the midway point of 2023, and are entering the 7th month of the year with a plethora of events already enjoyed in the Magic City. July is no slouch when it comes to entertainment, with a good bit of firework shows celebrating our country’s independence starting things off. There is still plenty to take in after the 4th though, and we have some of the most entertaining options listed below.

Little Raine Band with Rude & True at Avondale Brewing (Friday)

If you are looking to find the best sounds made by Birmingham musicians, Friday night at Avondale Brewing would be a good bit. The Little Raine Band have been a city favorite for years now, with prolific jams that get the mind and feet jogging. Rude & True is another one of Bham’s most creative acts, and Rebecca Egeland’s voice can make an entire venue shed one tear of appreciation in unison.

No Culture and Sugarplums at TrimTab Brewing (Friday)

Friday night is a great opportunity to support some of the state’s finest bands at some of Birmingham’s most fun breweries. Friday night at TrimTab is yet another verification of this fact. No Culture and Sugarplums will be partnering up to bring sweet tunes for the people to enjoy as they start off the weekend.

Punk Night at True Story Brewing (Friday)

One of the most entertaining monthly events found in the Magic City returns to True Story Brewing this Friday night. Brian Burx, Hannah Ali Burx, and the Birmingham punk collective bring a great local lineup for the July edition with Justify These Scars, Boss Rush, and Power Sink joining Arkansas punk rockers Moon Mane. As always, there will also be beautifully unique art to enjoy along with the music. Metal night will also take place at the brewery Saturday night if that is more of your style.

Hope In The ‘Ham: A Benefit for Suicide Prevention at Zydeco (Saturday)

We know we’ve said this about every show this week, but the Saturday benefit show at Zydeco features some of the top must-see musical acts in town. Featured bands include The Sick Fu**s, Ham Bagby and the Seige, and Cheyloe and Her Sleepless Knights. This concert is raising proceeds to the Crisis Center in Birmingham, which does important work every single day to better lives around them.

Ramblin’ Ricky Tate’s Birthday! Free Show at The Nick (Sunday)

You get the theme by now - it’s a great week to see some top tier Birmingham music! Ramblin’ Ricky Tate closes the festivities out with a Sunday Funday concert that doubles as a birthday celebration for the musician! It’s always a good time at The Nick, especially when we are celebrating a local legend.
