It’s a great week for live music in the Magic City. Musicians that have been putting out hits for decades join some of the fastest rising stars in the industry in performing on Birmingham stages this week. If that wasn’t enough - we have our usual stream of markets to bring more joy to the week. Here are a few events we are most looking forward to.
Erykah Badu Live at The BJCC (Wednesday)
One of the most uniquely talented musicians in American history is gracing the stage in Birmingham this Wednesday. The legendary Erykah Badu can be found performing at The BJCC in the middle of the week, and is bringing a very special guest in yasiin bey. There’s a reason this is one of About Town’s most anticipated shows of July.
Emo Nite at Iron City (Friday)
Attendees of the last Emo Nite at Iron City can attest to how fun this experience is, but we can all imagine the unmatched joy that comes from singing your favorite emo song with hundreds of like-minded music lovers. This is going to be a fun night! Get your emo outfit ready and enjoy the moments that will come at this Friday night event.
moe. at Avondale Brewing (Friday)
Avondale Brewing has been a favorite beer maker in the city of Birmingham for years now, but the last couple of concert seasons have really shown how amazing the 41st Street location is as a concert venue. The spacious outdoor setting is further elevated with food trucks, a very large stage, and a perfect sunset view. The many incredible acts, including moe. playing this Friday, compliment the venue in the best of ways.
Saturn Summer Market (Saturday)
If there is one thing the resident of the Magic City love, it’s a good market! Vintage, punk rock, winter, and of course - summer. Saturn has long been one of the finest hosts of these fun collectives of local goods, and this Saturday’s Summer Market is sure to be a good time.
Ann Marie at Zydeco (Sunday)
Ann Marie is a name in music that continues to rise. The singer’s recent singles including “Road Trip” and “Back 2 The Streets” have gathered millions of views in recent months and add to a resume of catchy tunes. Birmingham has the chance to see Ann Marie in concert as she comes to Zydeco this Sunday night.
Sunday Funday with Taylor Hollingsworth at The Nick (Sunday)
One of our favorite monthly traditions is back! Taylor Hollingsworth will be returning to The Nick this Sunday from 5 to 7pm for another Sunday Funday event that can’t be bested. One of the most talented musicians at one of Birmingham’s most historical venues? Sounds like a plan.
