Birmingham has had one of its finest years ever when it comes to entertainment, and is showing no signs of slowing down in July. The World Games are still in full swing, and lots of Magic City favorites are joining national acts to create a lot of buzz in this hot Alabama summer. Substrate Bingo (Tuesday)
Looking to have fun with some of the coolest people in Birmingham? Substrate Bingo at Saturn provides a relaxed and funny environment to do exactly that. Hosted by Jackie Lo of Dree Leer and Jackie Lo Show fame, this cherished take on the classic game gives away free tickets and lots of other great prizes for those who win. This edition will also be the first that features a 1960s bingo machine!
Purity Ring at Iron City (Tuesday)
Purity Ring performs one of the most mesmerizing live shows you’ll find on the planet, and the musicians will be bringing this experience to visitors of Iron City this Tuesday, July 12th. We would highly recommend this concert for those looking to take in a magical music moment.
Hellzapoppin Circus SideShow (Thursday)
A circus sideshow is coming to Zydeco Thursday night, and only those ready to take in otherworldly sights should sign up for such an evening. Hellzapoppin features fire breathing, foot archery, sword swallowing, and all sorts of jaw-dropping feats that will impress you as much as they shock you!
Parachute Punk Show (Friday)
The Parachute Punk Show has become a Birmingham favorite, and this month’s edition at Saturn is sure to be another people-pleaser. Nashville Power Pop favorites The Dreaded Laramie and Kentucky Indie Rock darlings Nowhere Fast join Magic City rockers Penny Circus and Qualifier. This is a free show that we would highly recommend checking out.
Otey’s Fest 2022 Shindig
The 13th Annual Otey’s Fest Shindig, which benefits The Phoenix Club of Birmingham, arrives in Mountain Brook this Saturday. The 2022 edition boasts a terrific lineup that features groove favorites Galactic playing with Angelika Jelly Joseph, Alabama legend Will Stewart, Gri Cashio, and T.U.B. A night of great music for a wonderful cause is always a great night.
World Games Closing Ceremony (Sunday)
The World Games brought the planet’s finest athletes to the Magic City, and let Birmingham show a little of our magic to the world. The Closing Ceremony is the perfect closing for such a grand event. Massive names like Lionel Ritchie, Allison Sanders, Blind Boys of Alabama, Jamey Johnson, Martha Reeves, Pastor Mike Jr., Yung Bleu, Alabama, Reuben Studdard, Bo Bice, Taylor Hicks, and Worth The Wait are all coming together to wrap up a wonderful 11 days in Birmingham.
