What an August we had, Birmingham! We laughed, we cried, we danced, we watched movies, and we partied like it wasn’t the middle of a scorching heat wave for half of the month. Friends and memories were both made, and the good news is the great memories show no signs of slowing down as we head into September. It’s a strong start to the 9th month of the year in regards to events. Here are a few of our favorites for the week ahead.
The StepDads with Sid Jerr-Dan and The Ramblers at The Nick (Friday)
We wish all dads could be as cool as The StepDads, but at least we get to hang out with the fun fellas on Friday night at The Nick! This group is made up of a very talented collective that includes Zach Austin and members of famous Bham bands like The Little Raine Band. They will be joined by Sid Jerr-Dan and The Ramblers for a great night of live music to start off the long weekend.
Magic City Vegan Fest at Cahaba Brewing (Saturday)
It’s a great weekend to be a vegan food lover in the Magic City, as Futuristic Vegan is hosting the first rendition of the bi-annual festival. The intention of this Saturday event is to highlight plant-based restaurants and chefs while helping vegan residents of the Magic City connect with each other. This will be a fun and tasty day at one of Birmingham’s best breweries in Cahaba.
Sankofa Suite Presents: September 2 Remember featuring You Gene Write, 7even Rich, & Suaze at Woodlawn Theatre (Saturday)
A trifecta of Birmingham’s most talented musicians is coming to the new Woodlawn Theatre this Saturday evening thanks to Sankofa Suite. You Gene Write, 7even Rich, and Suaze are all must-see acts in the city, and this fact is further amplified when all three are sharing the stage for an evening. September is all three musician’s birthday month so expect a fun night of music and celebrations if you plan to attend.
“The First of the Month” Day Party & Popup at 604 Bham (Sunday)
There are a lot of great things that come with the month of September. Football season kicks off and the weather (hopefully) beginning to cool down towards the end of the month are two major highlights. Wurk Life and 604 Bham are ready to help the city of Birmingham celebrate this great month with a day party this Sunday that will include a car show, local vendors, food trucks, and lots of great vibes to enjoy.
