It’s hard to believe that we are already two-thirds of the way through the year 2022, yet here we are. It’s been a year of excitement in the greater Birmingham area, with event after entertaining event coming to us at record speeds to ensure we are never lacking in things to do. This wonderful trend continues into September, with something for everyone taking place this week. Here are a few events we are eagerly awaiting.
Wiggly Wednesday with Tia Raye (Wednesday)
Tia Raye has made her presence felt all year, and is celebrating the recent release of her “Wiggly” video with a Release Party and Women’s Empowerment Q&A at Little London on Wednesday night beginning at 6pm. This is sure to be a great night for Magic City music moments.
Korn and Evanescence at Oak Mountain Amphitheater (Thursday)
Two rock heavyweights are coming to Pelham this Thursday evening. Korn and Evanescence have both spent decades entertaining the masses with head-banging classics, and are sure to bring the fireworks as they rock the house at the Oak Mountain Amphitheatre on their joint tour.
JAWS Comes To IMAX (Begins Thursday)
One of the most iconic movies of all time is coming to the IMAX Dome Theater at McWayne Science Center for a week of fun. The suspenseful music and moments of the 1975 shark-centered classic. The screenings begin September 1st and end on the 8th.
Bards & Brews September Slam (Friday)
Bards & Brews is an iconic event when it comes to Birmingham poetry, and the September Slam at Birmingham’s Central Library is going to be one of its biggest events yet. This free event brings beer, drumming performances, and serious cash prizes in a top-talent poetry slam competition together for what is sure to be a night of great fun.
Punk Night at True Story Brewing (Friday)
Art By Burx continues to put on fantastic monthly shows for fans of genres that weren’t always readily found in the Magic City. Punk Night, which occurs on the first Friday of every month, is one of the city’s favorites and the September edition is going to be a good one. Wesley Wörthless and the Cadaver Dogs, Triangle Fire, Lipstick Stains, and Power Sink will all be rocking the stage at True Story Brewing.
The Stolen Faces at Avondale (Sunday)
Fans of The Grateful Dead are probably already familiar with The Stolen Faces. The group covers the iconic jam band’s hits and is already a Birmingham favorite. They will be coming to Avondale Brewing this Sunday to help the Magic City start their extended Labor Day weekend off on a great note.
