The weather is hitting the triple digits this week in Birmingham, and the events are heating up as well! The dreaded summer weather hasn’t slowed down the excitement of Magic City residents to get out and mingle. Luckily for us, there is plenty to do this week! Here are a few things we are most looking forward to.
Davis Little and Haleigh Black at The Marble Ring (Wednesday)
Haleigh Black and Davis Little have spent much of the last month playing violin and guitar across Europe with a talented array of musical hosts. The magnificent duo is back in the states and are poised to please Birmingham ears once again at The Marble Ring this Wednesday night. Talk about a great mid-week show in the Magic City.
Palomino Blond, MOLD!, mood room, Trooper, and fauxdeep at Firehouse (Wednesday)
A few of Birmingham’s favorite acts will be playing alongside touring artists Palomino Blond and MOLD! this Wednesday night at the Firehouse. fauxdeep, Trooper, and mood room make for a trio of Magic City openers that is nearly impossible to best. You’re going to want to be at this show, which begins at 7pm.
Ugly Baby is a June Bug! at Birmingham Festival Theatre (Thursday)
Birmingham is known for many things. We are a food and beverage hub for example. We are also known as a crucial city in the civil rights movement that impacted our entire country. Sports, humidity, and natural beauty are other common identifiers. The improv comedy scene - largely led by the good people at Ugly Baby - is currently rising in the ranks of Birmingham’s most distinguishing features and the June Bug! show at Birmingham Festival Theatre this Thursday evening is a good time to see why.
Nowhere Squares & Boss Rush with Witchcake at The Nick (Saturday)
Witchcake is coming to a Magic City staple (literally - there are thousands of staples in the walls) in The The Nick and invited city favorites Nowhere Squares and Boss Rush to join the party! This is going to be quite the fun show with three stellar bands to enjoy indoors during a hot, hot weekend.
The Dark Dance at TrimTab (Saturday)
Anim3.Bae’s gothic dance parties have only continued to grow since we first covered the rising DJ. The next Dark Dance takes place this Saturday at TrimTab and includes some of the biggest names in the city. Stevo Blaque will be DJing as well along with burlesque from Bella Donna, drag from Saliva Godiva, and light spinning from Dazey Fairy. This is a one of a kind show.
