Looking for a unique way to celebrate dad this year? You’re in luck! Birmingham has plenty of options to treat dad to an experience that is tailor-made for him, whether that’s entering him in a steak-grilling competition, taking him for a Porsche driving experience, or fishing with him at a catch and release pond. No matter where you go or what you do, just being together is enough – but these Father’s Day options will help make the day even more meaningful for the both of you.

Father’s Day Race Benefiting Team Hoyt
In 1977, Rick Hoyt told his father, Dick Hoyt, that he wanted to take part in a five-mile benefit run for a lacrosse player who had been paralyzed in an accident. Dick – though admittedly not a runner – agreed to push his son in his wheelchair and completed the run. That night, Rick told his father, “Dad, when I’m running, it feels like I’m not handicapped.” For the eighth year in a row, Birmingham is hosting its annual Father’s Day 1M/5K/10K/13.1/26.1 race, to be held virtually this year on Father’s Day. At least 20 percent of each registration will be donated to Team Hoyt, which works to build the individual character, confidence, and self-esteem of America’s disabled and physically challenged young people through inclusion in all facets of daily life. Click here to register for the race, which will take place on whichever course you choose to run this year.
