It happens to the best of us. You’re seizing the day and crushing all of your goals then boom - the post-lunch sleepies set in. You don’t want the momentum you’ve had all morning to slow down, but the tiredness is coming on quick. While a lesser woman or man may give in, you’ve gone to the internet looking for ways to combat this tired tale. Well congratulations, your quick wits paid off and the energizing answers are about to appear right before you. Here are a few easy ways to find some mid-afternoon energy when you need it most.

Sunlight & Fresh Air

Many jobs in the year 2023 are inside, which brings many benefits. Air conditioning, comfy work stations, and perhaps an office ping pong table are just a few of the pluses that can come from working indoors - but there is one negative. Our body’s are energized from natural lighting. When able, step outside for 10 minutes or so to soak up some sun rays and enjoy the fresh air. Briefly changing our scenery in general is another quick energizer, so make sure to walk to another room even if you don’t have time to enjoy the outdoors.

Hydrate

Water is the key to life, and makes living more energetically a whole lot easier. It can be easy to get stuck on “upper” beverages like coffee and soft drinks while at the workplace, but try beverages like tea and kombucha as water backups if you are looking for something a little more flavorful. It’s recommended that you drink 11 - 15 cups of water a day, and you’re spending a lot of that time at the workplace. Help yourself feel better by staying hydrated!

Music/Podcasts

While we can’t always change the scenery around us, we can be in control of the sounds that we hear throughout the day. Each of us have different audio preferences to play when we are looking to find some energy. It could be metal, hip-hop, smooth jazz, or a podcast on the history of mobile homes. It doesn’t matter what you listen to, just that you found a free or cheap way to keep yourself energized.

Supplements

The body is a complex wonder that seeks certain vitamins and minerals to turn into energy. Intentionally seeking out which of these supplements will help us stay upbeat even towards the end of the day can go a long way in helping us help ourselves. Iron, magnesium, Vitamin B12, and Coenzyme Q12 are a few great options to consider.

Improve Your Sleep Schedule

It can be easy to fall into a poor sleep schedule. We are so busy throughout the day that we often find ourselves staying up late hours in the night to enjoy alone time, time with family, our favorite television shows, hobbies, or to get some extra work done. Sometimes we just can’t sleep and stare at our phone screens all night. But working to fix our sleeping schedule so that we get the proper 7-8 hours of sleep goes a long way in ensuring we have more energy while we are awake.

We hope you’re feeling energized after reading this list! If not, try some vitamins and sleep. You’ve got this!
