Need some new ideas for eating out? Looking to mix it up and go somewhere new for date night? Here are some places you may not have thought of before. The Magic City is also the city of romance on most nights, with romancers at every stage of the relationship path traversing the town finding the most charming restaurants and scenic views to enjoy with that special someone. Birmingham being a foodie city ensures that there are always great options on the (dinner) table for couples to enjoy. Here are a few of our favorites.

Juniper

Juniper has quickly become one of the city’s most talked about restaurants, and it’s easy to see why. A light-hearted vibe is complemented by a wonderful artsy layout that only gets better with the amazing food and drink selection. One of the city’s most talented chefs (who is also among our finest poets, musicians, and jewelry makers), Thyme Randle, is leading the kitchen with a great selection of wonderful dishes including plenty of vegan options.

La Perla Nayarita

If you are a fan of seafood, you need to check out La Perla. Image from La Perla.

Located at what some would say is the city’s steepest shopping center off Green Springs, La Perla is an extravagant experience that involves Mexican seafood inspired by the state of Nayarit. The plates and margaritas are massive, and the fun atmosphere is often highlighted by karaoke nights or other fun events.

Red Pearl

You are bound to find some of your new favorite dishes at Red Pearl in Homewood. Image from Red Pearl

Red Pearl is one of the most loved restaurants in Birmingham, and the only one on the list that lets you go through a grocery store on the way to your meal. The food market is full of snacks, veggies, and other delicious items that you won’t find anywhere else. Once you get inside the restaurant you will be greeted by friendly faces and a hundred amazing meal options. Enjoy!

Shu Shop

Shu Shop continues to provide one of the best date night experiences found in the Magic City. After entering the 3rd Avenue North establishment by going through one of the sturdiest doors in Birmingham, you’ll be greeted by a dark artsy setting that leads to delicious ramen, seafood, and some of the best-tasting drinks your mouth will ever lay its taste buds on. If the conversation gets boring, you can often get lost in the adventures happening on screen at the restaurant too!

Yo Chef Surf and Turf

Yo Chef joins Juniper as one of the younger but most popular restaurants in the city, with great dishes and drinks joining a cool atmosphere that is often highlighted by a DJ, comedy night, or other fun entertainment options. Seafood is a great option here, but the whole menu is going to leave you hungry with anticipation while waiting on your order then satisfied and full after.
