The 4th of July is nearly here! Fireworks have already been heard popping across the Greater Birmingham Metro over the weekend as people prepare for a Tuesday celebration of our nation’s independence. Meats are marinating, yards are being mowed, and families are planning their perfect spot to take in one of the many firework shows that are taking place about town. There are a lot of great places and happenings to add more fun to your 4th celebrations. Here are a few of our favorites.

Birmingham Barons Independence Day Celebration (Monday at 6pm)

The Birmingham Barons hope to have some offensive fireworks in tonight’s game against the Rocket City Trash Pandas, and we know no matter what there are going to be actual fireworks after the game! The Barons routinely host some of the best firework shows after Friday night games, and are bringing out the display for a special Independence Day Celebration.

July 4th(ish) of July Celebration at Helena Amphitheater (Monday at 4:30pm)

Helena has been hosting some fun and free community days of late, and is upping the ante with their firework display on Monday evening at the Helena Amphitheater that will also feature music from Telluride. The jokingly named 4th(ish) celebration gives families the chance to take part in multiple nights of fun light shows.

Fire on the Water at Oak Mountain State Park (Monday at 5pm)

One of the coolest 4th of July firework show displays is found at Oak Mountain State Park. The event is hosted by the city of Pelham, with wakeboarding entertainment starting things off at 5pm. The gates to the park close at 7pm before the firework show over the lake begins at 9pm. This is going to be a night full of wonderful memories at one of the most beautiful spots in the state. Food truck favorites like Uncle G’s will be on-site as well.

Thunder On The Mountain at The Vulcan (Tuesday at 9pm)

The biggest firework show in Central Alabama is getting ready to blow the city’s collective minds once again! Vulcan Park itself will be closed for the 9pm festivities but thousands of people will be finding their perfect views in downtown parking lots, Highway 280 exits, and Homewood roads to take in the incredible display that will feature more than 2,500 shells. The event also comes with a festive soundtrack to coincide with the light display that can be heard on most of the popular stations in Birmingham.
