Birmingham was first named the Magic City in the late 1800s after the city went from a collection of rural communities to one of the South’s largest industrial hubs seemingly overnight. The magic has remained throughout the town in the 2020s, with an impressive amount of world-class restaurants, bars, and small businesses continuing to make their way to our home. This is certainly the case this year, and we’ve got three recent openings we’d highly recommend our readers check out. Learn more about each below.

Bandit Patisserie

The new Bandit Patisserie store is bringing “full service espresso drinks, daily sandwiches, and a heap of freshly baked pastries” to the people of Birmingham from their new location on 1st Avenue North. Those who’ve fallen in love with Bandit’s delicious munchables at their pop-up and showings at The Market at Pepper Place visits are sure to be excited about this development, but it’s the whole city that benefits from our latest grand opening.

Cajun Steamer Bar & Grill

Cahaba Heights got a tasty new addition in May with the opening of Cajun Steamer Bar & Grill. Flavorful seafood dishes are joined by ice-cold refreshing beverages in a fun atmosphere to create a new hang-out spot for the residents of the Magic City. Follow their social media for updates on specials and live music.

Continental Drift

90s television and a delicious drink? Sounds like the perfect day to me. Image from Continental Drift

A new cocktail bar has come to Birmingham, and the colorful concept of Continental Drift fits in perfectly with the unique building the watering hole calls home on 7th Avenue South. Drinks like the “Tropical Storm” and “Mermaid Parade” promise to be refreshing, and the Drift Kitchen food truck has a menu that is ready to make conquering hunger the highlight of your day. The bar has only been open for just a few weeks, but is making a big buzz throughout the city.

We are blessed to live in a food and beverage city. Establishments of all ages come together to ensure we are always able to enjoy the tastes that our hearts desire. These three additions have made this fact hold even more true.

What a city.
